Your first goal in Ride a Dino: tame and deposit a dinosaur

Bring one successfully tamed dinosaur into your own pen. A long run or an expensive dinosaur is not necessary to understand the loop. The opening lesson may introduce catching before your training machine is ready; follow its current prompts instead of waiting for an unavailable machine.

Ride a Dino tutorial: Dodo, Pachycephalosaur and your first machine

The October 21 CHALLS recording gives a concrete view of a fresh start. Its first goal asks for a Dodo, and the next tutorial prompt points to a Pachycephalosaur. Follow the highlighted target and the current goal panel instead of trying to copy an advanced player’s dinosaur.

Later, the goal panel asks the player to buy a first Dino Machine and shows a $300 saving target. It also tracks catching another dinosaur and putting catches in the pen. This explains why a brand-new player may be catching before training: the lesson is still setting up the ranch and its machine.

That $300 is the amount visible in the October 21 lesson, not a promise that every future version starts at the same price. If your panel shows a different objective, use that objective. Once the machine is in use, the tutorial explicitly connects more Stamina with being able to remain mounted longer.

How to start Ride a Dino: tutorial, training and your first tame

  1. Follow the Ride a Dino tutorial objectives

Locate your pen and follow the lesson. The official Ranch Hand badge describes a completed lesson with a pen, a machine and a herd to catch. It does not specify a universal starting cost.

  2. Train on your Dino Machine

When your machine is available, use it to train. The October 17 gameplay shows a spring-mounted training station beside the pens, with Upgrade Machine on its sign. Check that your displayed training value increases while using it.

  3. Jump onto a nearby stampeding dinosaur

Head for the stampede and use the riding prompt your device displays. On the recorded desktop interface, Space is shown for jumping during a run. Practice reaching a nearby dinosaur before attempting a distant one.

  4. Wait for the tame confirmation

Keep riding the target and watch the capture feedback. In the linked gameplay, the game announces IT’S YOURS! after a successful catch. Landing on a dinosaur alone is not that confirmation.

  5. Return the tamed dinosaur to your pen

The recorded run has a My pen button at the upper right. Return to your pen, follow its deposit prompt and look for the message confirming that your dinosaur is in the pen.

  6. Check Active and Stored dinosaurs in your ranch

Open your ranch dinosaur panel and review the Active and Stored counts. Equip Best is visible in the recording; use the displayed earning values to review the resulting active lineup.

How to confirm training, taming and deposits in Ride a Dino

  • Training: a before-and-after increase in the stat shown by your machine.
  • Taming: an explicit success message, rather than merely being mounted.
  • Home: a deposit confirmation and a dinosaur visible in your ranch collection.

Ride a Dino tutorial interface: goals, meters and pen controls

During a run, start with the dinosaur’s floating label. The recorded interface separates its name and rarity from a lightning-bolt requirement. A visually huge dinosaur is not automatically a sensible first target. Look for a target you can reach and read, so your next attempt teaches you something useful.

The October 20 recording shows a green circular riding meter beside a smaller pink capture indicator. Watch both while mounted: continuing to move through the canyon and completing a catch are different things. The secured-catch tray on the left helps you see what you have already caught during that run.

At the end, a results banner reports the catches. This is a good moment to stop chasing distance and finish the trip to your pen. Treat the collection panel at home as the final check that your new dinosaur is ready to manage.

What to improve after your first Ride a Dino tame

After the first deposit, choose a small, visible goal. If the jump was the difficult part, repeat a nearby target and improve the landing. If you landed but ran out of riding time, return to training and inspect the next target’s requirement. If catching worked but the dinosaur seems missing, resolve the deposit or active-lineup step first.

You do not need to solve training, collection, travel and every shop at once. Keeping the next goal narrow makes it easier to see whether a change helped. It also avoids spending your first cash on a different problem from the one that ended your run.

  • A successful first loop: one catch, a named deposit confirmation, then a collection check.
  • A useful training loop: note the displayed value, train, then try a comparable target.
  • A useful ranch loop: deposit, check available active slots, then review the earning values.

Common Ride a Dino beginner mistakes

  • Jumping away before the catch finishes: wait for the success feedback when your goal is that dinosaur.
  • Returning home without checking the deposit: look for the named confirmation and your collection entry.
  • Copying a creator’s purchases: the reference video uses optional purchases. It is useful for seeing the interface, not a budget or a requirement to buy the same items.
