How to Tame Dinosaurs in Ride a Dino
Land on a stampeding dinosaur and stay with it until the game confirms the tame. Then return to your own pen and confirm the deposit. A successful mount, a successful tame and a dinosaur in your ranch are three different checkpoints.

Ride a Dino taming stages: mount, tame and deposit
The developer confirms that you leap onto stampeding dinosaurs, tame them and bring them to the ranch. The linked desktop footage makes the last two checkpoints visible: the catch announcement at about 4:50, then a named pen confirmation at about 4:55.

How to complete a tame in Ride a Dino
Choose a nearby dinosaur for your jump
Read its on-screen label and requirement before committing. For a practice run, choose a nearby target; this is a riding suggestion, not a guarantee of a successful tame.
Land on the dinosaur and watch the riding meter
The recorded PC interface shows Space beside the jump control. Aim your jump at the next dinosaur. Do not treat the presence of a jump button as proof you have already caught it.
Watch for the “IT’S YOURS!” tame announcement
At 4:50, the recording shows IT’S YOURS! with the dinosaur’s name. Use the current game’s capture feedback to tell a complete tame from an attempt that ended too early.
Return to your pen and confirm the deposit
The My pen control appears at the upper right during the recorded run. Return home and follow the current pen interaction. At 4:55, a separate message confirms the dinosaur is in the pen.

Ride a Dino controls: keyboard, mobile and controller checks
| Platform | What we can confirm |
|---|---|
| Desktop / keyboard | The October 17 recording shows Space for the riding jump. It also shows an E Ride prompt beside a ranch dinosaur; that is not proof that E performs every interaction. |
| Mobile / tablet | Officially supported. An exact touch-control walkthrough has not been verified; follow the prompts in your own interface. |
| Console / controller | Officially supported. Exact controller bindings have not been verified; no keyboard-to-controller mapping is assumed. |

Ride a Dino taming meters: riding time and capture progress
The recorded canyon interface puts a green circular meter beside a pink capture indicator. The green meter decreases during the ride; the capture indicator is the separate feedback to watch while working toward the tame. The result message is still the clearest checkpoint that the catch finished.
For your first catch, concentrate on one dinosaur. Jumping on and immediately jumping away can keep you moving, but it does not by itself demonstrate a completed capture. Watch the target, the capture feedback and the secured tray before deciding to move on.
The floating target label also matters. In the footage, the species name, a rarity label, optional size or variant text and the lightning-bolt requirement occupy different lines. Read the requirement actually shown for that individual instead of guessing it from the species name alone.

Ride a Dino secured catches: returning to the ranch
The October 20 recording shows several catches in a secured tray and a run-results banner. Back at the ranch, the avatar can still be carrying a dinosaur, with a prompt directing the player to the pen. That is the important distinction: the run has ended, but depositing is another action.
Return to your own plot and follow the current deposit prompt. Then look for the dinosaur’s name in the confirmation or collection panel. If you are still carrying it, complete the pen interaction before starting another activity.
The same recording shows a limited free-revive offer after a run. Read any revive offer as an optional, separate decision; do not assume retries are unlimited or that paying is necessary to learn the basic catching loop.

How to troubleshoot a failed Ride a Dino tame
Pick the row that matches what happened, rather than changing every part of your setup at once. This practice plan is editorial advice built around the visible checkpoints.
| What you saw | What to change on the next attempt |
|---|---|
| You sailed past the target | Choose a closer dinosaur and adjust when you jump. |
| You mounted, then saw a Stamina warning | Review the target requirement and your training or equipment. |
| You left the dinosaur before a catch appeared | Stay focused on one target and watch the capture feedback. |
| You secured a catch but are still carrying it at home | Finish the pen interaction and check the named result. |
| The catch is deposited but not active | Review the ranch collection; this is a lineup decision, not a failed tame. |
Why a tamed dinosaur may be missing from your Ride a Dino ranch
- No success announcement: treat it as an unfinished attempt and revisit training or the landing.
- Success appeared but the pen is empty: finish the deposit and check the collection panel.
- The dinosaur is in the collection but not your active lineup: inspect Active and Stored in the ranch panel.
